Before and After: Sheridan Rd.

It’s been written about before, the mess this house was in when we first saw it.

Abandoned for over a year and a half and seemingly unloved for many years prior, it was being occupied by pigeons and mice and every insect with over 10 legs when we saw it. There was fire damage on the second floor walls, carpets soaked with mildew, dark windows and musty smells. And despite the “over my dead body” comment I muttered to my husband during our walk-through, we owned it 24 hours later.

We have since spent every waking moment (and every single dollar) breathing new life into it’s bones. And in return it has given us priceless memories. For every time I curse it’s name when a roof leaks or a window drafts in cold air on a winter’s night, there are many more times that I count my lucky stars that I am able to steward this beauty to the next generation.
